You do not need any special knowledge or skills to take part in the Explorer Week. However you must be at least 16 years old. The guides speak all English and partly German as well . But we point out that it is advantageous if you understand a little bit English.

The daily hikes range from leisurely walks, to sometimes steep ascents, and it can also lead along stony paths. So you do not have to be a trained mountaineer, but you should bring some level of fitness with you.

Please be aware that the accommodation during the trail is very simple. For the time of the trail we will prepare our own food, stay in tents and adapt ourselves to nature as much as possible. All luggage including tents and meals are to be carried by ourselves!

Please note as well that most activities depend of favourable weather and activities according to given plans might be subjected to change, if conditions are not favourable.

With sunrise we will wake you up and after a light breakfast of coffee or tea and a few biscuits we will leave for our first morning activity.

Over the week, we will explore different areas and ecosystems. So you might head into the cloud forest, into the tea fields, to breathtaking waterfalls or on a hike through the beautiful landscape of the Knuckles Mountains. After about 3-4 hours we have an extensive brunch at the camp and we can relax a bit and let the impressions of the morning sink before around 2pm a light lunch is waiting for us. Shortly thereafter and freshly strengthened we head out on the afternoon activity. During the hikes we pass many exciting and new things and make many discoveries. Our guides will introduce you to the small and big inhabitants but also to the landscape and its geology and the unique flora of the Knuckles Mountains.

Before the sun goes down we will reach the camp again and a generous dinner awaits us.

Thereafter we let the day comfortably end with a pleasant campfire at our beautiful viewpoint before a new exciting day is waiting for us.

A sleep out trail is something special. For 3 days we will be exclusively be in the nature and spend the nights there as well. Everything we need is included in our backpacks.

On this activity food is also provided, but we will prepare our food during the trail ourself. By the way you will learn how to build a small camp, how to make a fire and also how and where to get fresh drinking water.

Especially here it is of advantage to travel in a small group. The peace and relaxation that nature radiates will reach you at the latest now and you will feel a bond - away from everyday life and just free. The trail also allows us to get further away from the touristy trails and you will see landscapes hidden from most visitors that visit the Knuckles Mountain Range.

An activity that should not be left out in any case.

During your stay you will be accommodated in one of our two or four bed cabins. The cabins have a bathroom with a hot shower. If you are travelling on your own you might have to share your room with another person of same genger if you have not booked a double room for single use.

During the trail we will sleep in simple tents or, weather permitting, directly under the breathtaking stars of Sri Lanka. The accommodation in tents  is simple but an incredible experience that you will not forget so quickly.
